How do I repair holes in the stanchions of my 1984 Hobie 16? The Port stanchion has a legitimate hole where the eye strap was connected to the stanchion. The rivet was ripped out and the hole in the stanchion is now big enough to fit a pen into. Since the hole is too big to re-rivet, I was thinking I could fill the hole with some two part JB weld or something, then drill a new hole and insert the rivet. Is that the way to go? Most importantly, what product should I use?
Any help is greatly appreciated by this novice repair guy.
Dan

I assume that when you use the term "stanchion" that you are referring to a pylon.

If so, not sure why an "eye strap" was riveted to it or why you want to replace it.

JB Weld can be used to fill the hole, but I would not depend on it for holding a rivet.

Yes, Pylon. An eye strap was riveted to it to hold the righting line so the righting line would only slide through a certain distance, so you could hold the line while hiking out.
