Pylon Shim Project

While doing the bottom job last week on my 1986 H16, I noticed both hulls had movement between the corner castings and the pylons. I have read about epoxying and aluminum shimming, and want to shim. Has anyone done this and can they provide steps / instructions? How many shims should I use? Should they be wrapped around the pylon or vertical strips draped over the top? Is there a third way to make the frame tight?

I've never done this, but I believe the shims need to be placed vertically down the pylon with a short section folded over at the top to catch on the edge of the pylon. This way when you pound the corner casting down onto the pylon, the shim doesn't slip down. Not sure of any official instructions. What I've always read was to just use cut up aluminum cans as the shims. The only other things you can do to tighten the frame are re-rivet the castings and make the tramp super tight.
