Post subject:  Quick and Easy Hull Clean / Polish advice
Any advice on a quick and easy way to make the hulls look a little nicer? I don't want to sand anything, just want to know what products people use to make the hulls a bit cleaner and nicer looking. I have white hulls with a black stripe.

I have not tried it on mine yet but seems Starbrite is used by others on the forum. Do a search on the site for restoring / cleaning and you should find some more info.

Starbrite, or any other product containing Oxalic acid, will clean out the pore/pock/pits in the gelcoat caused by UV

my go to is Bar Keepers Friend, located next to the Comet abrasive cleaner at the hardware store
they have a "liquid" version, but you can add your own water to the powder version and slather on a paste

"Slimy Grimy", sprays on, you can rub the worst spots with your fingers or hand, hose off. You won't believe how well this stuff works on fiberglass.

As for the getaway with rotomold. I found it easiest to wipe down with uv protectant with a magic eraser. Only thing I found that would really make the boat look new again

Goof Off - RustAid is very good at removing the brown stains - mainly from organics (naturally occurring humic, tannic and fulvic acids, etc.) in the water as well as removing rust on boats. It is safe for fiberglass, etc.

Very easy to use: Mix 3 parts water with 1 part Goof Off - RustAid in a 1 gallon hand pump sprayer. Spray on Hobie, stains disappear in less than a minute, then rinse off. Recommend wearing eye protection.

Available at Lowes, Home Depot, etc. at less than $10.00 per gallon. Also 1 gallon plastic hand pump sprayer for less than $10.00 which can be used many many times (if rinsed out after each use).

Active Ingredients: Oxalic acid <10% and Hydrofluoric acid <0.5%

One thing no one has mentioned but it SHOULD be stressed.

If you don't wax the hulls after you deep clean them you are not protecting the glass from future stains, grime.

Don't leave that RustAid on metal parts for long - has a small amount of Hydrofluoric Acid. Nasty, nasty stuff but really diluted here. Still, it'll pit stainless in low concentrations if I remember correctly.

I use Oxalic acid it works great on fibreglass boats and is cheap.

Nobody has brought up one point, but it needs to be emphasised.If you don't wax the hulls after you've given them a thorough cleaning, the glass won't be shielded from dirt and stains in the future. Earning.
