Hobie Cat Europe posted a picture of the Hobie T2, a revised version of the Europe-only Tatoo, on their Facebook page. The post stated that the T2 would be distributed globally. So I came here looking for any news and information about the T2 in the US.

The T2 has a dedicated page on the Hobie Cat US website already:

Availability is listed as November 2013. Pictures on the page clearly show a California coastline, which is encouraging. 8) However, I haven't been able to find much more about the T2.

Does anybody have the scoop on the T2 in the US? Any thoughts? Matt Miller?

I personally love the durability of the rotomolded Hobie line. However, the Wave and Getaway are just not sporty enough for my taste. This new T2 looks like it might give me the durability I would prefer and still be fun and fast(er) to sail.

Looks like MSRP for the T2 is $7899, same price point as the Getaway.

Will be interesting to see whether the beach resorts and rental shops that have Waves and Getaways will replace some of them with the T2 for summer 2014.

Pretty much anything else that turns up is about the Zhik T2 trap harness. :? Although I certainly love my Zhik T1 harness.

That's a great looking boat. Could use some wings. Hope this sells well for Hobie.

NICE! That looks like the perfect hybrid of the 16 and the wave. My two favorite Hobies. That might have to go on the wish list.

Looks pretty sweet. Glad to see a new cat added to the fleet. Looks to be a fast rotomolded and priced to sell. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the performance stats. Would love to see a hooter option (as well as the spin option) and a wing option. AND a hiking stick.

I do hope that the Hobie T2 sails -- and sells -- more like the Hobie 16 than the Wave!

That's a photo taken of me sailing on Mission bay about a month or two ago - we took some video too - nothing official - just some messing around, and some video with my family sailing on it for fun. The boat is a blast - we'll have production later this fall - right now we just have the 1 demo boat that we're playing with. Here's the video we took too:

I really want to know what the recommended weight capacity is. Is it about the same as a 16 or more of a youth boat. JBernier looks like it has a decent bit of power with a smaller sail area than a 16. How do the two compare as I am thinking about this coming from a H18.

Thanks for the update, Jacques! Great to see the T2 under sail -- solo, with various crew, and with wife and child! Nice touch to see a Hobie kayak and a SUP in there for good measure.

The T2 looks real good compared to the other rotomolded cats. Speed looks decent, given that some speed obviously had to be traded for the durability of rotomolded hulls. It's a tradeoff I would be willing to make for fun sailing. Thanks goodness there's a trapeze wire on the T2 as well.

I hope that HCA can develop some active racing with the T2, as has happened with the Wave. Maybe the T2 is where H16 and competitive Wave sailors could meet in the middle to form a new, strong Hobie class of the future!
