Hello Hobiecat USA
Is it possible to purchase the T1 Cataraman in the US?
It looks like the perfect solo sailing cat. Smaller than the T2 but the same idea.
Thanks

Possible, but not currently in the plan as far as I know. Trying not to crowd out / confuse the market of the Wave as it is so successful.

Hi Matt, would the T1 Jib improve the Wave speed over the Wave's own Jib Kit?
I see it's a roller furling Jib wich would be nice....
Thanks

Alex

I think there is a pretty big hole in the entire beach cat market right now for single handers above the Bravo. Previously Hobie had the 14 Turbo and H17, which were both pretty popular in the day. The T1 would seem to have all the light-weight of the old H 14 but with hulls that won't pitch so easily, so would be much better for off-the-beach ocean sailing. Righting would be much simpler than the T2 for one person. F-16's are extremely pricey new, also.

Net net: if someone wants a more performance oriented boat the 365lb T2 is a bit heavy for single handing, including loading, pulling down the beach etc. Sure the Wave is good, but not performance, no trap, etc. The T-1 is just right.

How many Adventure Islands do you sell compared to Tandem Islands. In fact many posters here think the T1 is better for one person too, but I lot of people just enjoy the elegance of a boat built for one. (Look at how many single-hand one-design dinghy's that RS makes.)

I just ran the SCHRS numbers on this boat
crew of one (SOLO), with trapeze

1.315

puts it smack dab between a standard H14 at 1.381 and H14 Turbo at 1.262

Wave is 1.5
Nacra 4.5 SOLO is 1.318

I'm in for this roto boat :D
@ 264 pounds is about the weight of most H14's

I would consider going from my H14 turbo to the T1. Something more modern with forgiving hulls and not a crazy low boom to duck under. Plus a factory Spinnaker Kit, wow.

I see the T1 listed on hobiecat.com USA site. Is it coming to the US? Do we have a top speed?

T1 is not listed on the US site. Be sure you are set as "United States" at the bottom of the page for Region.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I have United States listed as the region in the drop down and I see the following boats for rotomolded in this order:
Bravo | Wave | T2 | T1 | Getaway
For fiberglass, I see:
Hobie 16 | Wild Cat

It might be the "Browse All" link going here: http://www.hobiecat.com/sailboats/. Seems immune to country selection.

One can wish!
