I noticed the T2 (and the Wildcat) are no longer listed on the hobie.com website. Is that the end? Did I miss my chance to buy a T2? What happened?

Yes. Discontinued in North America. With updates to the Getaway last year, the T2 was not selling as well.

long term what will this mean for us few owners in terms of parts and support? I know some of the parts are the same as other boats, but I'm sure things like the tramp, crossbars, etc are T2 specific. I'm hoping my T2 lasts as long as many of the 70's and 80s hobies you see around, but I'm sure 10 years from now I'll need some parts to keep her going.

Thanks for the info. That's sad to hear. Are there any that are built but not sold?

That's a bummer! Only 3 years on the US market for a successful European design. I guess I'll be stopping by Blessington Lake for any needed smaller parts on trips home if US doesn't maintain a parts supply chain ... assuming Europe/Ireland/UK/France will keep the Tatoo.

Its is still a European model and actually available in the US as a special order item, so parts are still available no problem.

Wow, no F18 class offering by Hobie anymore in North America?

Not a good indication for the current or future state of catamaran racing.

Wild Cat is also available as special order. We just don't play the arms race game in sailing. Too difficult for us to maintain World Wide production to distribution of a product like an F18 that is constantly changing. The one design concept is our friend.

The new F18 deck sweeper rigs pretty much kills off all the older designed boats. You have to spend $$$ to keep up in that class.

Matt, thank you again for the info. What were the updates to the Getaway that you mentioned earlier?

Does that mean we can order the full keel strips now? I would really like to have them, even if Hobie feels it's too much disruption in water flow.

Not sure if they are available. I'll ask around.

On the topic of special orders... I somehow stumbled across the Hobie catalog that includes many boats not available in the US, including the T1. Is it possible to order that boat? If so, any ballpark estimates on the price? Thanks!

I'm with Mistro. I'd love to check out a T1 in the states and have a chance to special order one. I believe I read that the T1 is too close to the Wave for Hobie to ever bring it to the US market and the Wave probably won't change because it is year after year a great selling craft for Hobie.
