Anyone have any thoughts on how/where to attach a rod holder to a T2? I've looked at some clamp style holders online and they aren't big enough to clamp to the rear crossbar. I'm picturing trolling for trout on Lake Superior on days that the wind is otherwise light enough I wouldn't bother sailing. There's good fishing just off-shore from my house and I'd love to catch something off my Hobie one of these days. One idea I've had is get longer bolts for the rear crossbar and then find/make some sort of plate that sticks out from the top of the cross bar and mount a holder to that. not sure that would be the best solution though. |

I don't know how strong the rod holder needs to be but another option might be to fabricate something that connects to the hull access port cover. I hate the idea of making permanent modifications to the boat so at least if it doesn't work it is cheap to undo. |

I made a pvc diy rod holder/ backrest combo for my Wave that clamped around the outside of the front and rear crossbars and rested on the hull. Easy on, easy off, worked great. |

Think you could make something that screws in where the crossbar side cover mounts? I know the screws are small and might not hold but something inserted into the opening with maybe a hole in the top of the crossbar for a pin to hold it in? |

Thinking more about it, a pvc pipe could be notched to slide in the opening far enough to go past the crossbar bolts to keep it from rotating and then a quick pin, that can't fall, out to keep it from sliding out. Then you could glue anything to the pvc, size it up or down...front and rear. |

Pescatoral Pursuit, got any pictures of how you clamped to the cross bar? Buxton... didn't think about using/removing/modifying the cross bar end caps. that's not a bad idea! |
