I am in need of replacing my trailer which was homemade. Does anyone have a recommendations on trailer options. In other words has anyone retrofitted a norther freight or trailex, etc that worked well. Please advise.

Trailex are good trailers but a little pricey. They’re also a but more flexible than a standard steel trailer. But they are nice if you use a tow vehicle with limited towing capacity. They’re also easier to wheel around by hand.

If you go with a steel trailer, I would definitely choose galvanized rather than painted. Also look for something with a fairly heavy wall thickness on the main channel rails. Also check the spring rates. Many catamaran trailers are modified from boat trailer frames that are designed to carry much more load than a couple hundred pound beach cat. If the springs are sized for a large boat, they won’t offer much dampening of the ride which will be hard on the boat.

Find a cheap boat used boat with a good trailer. Then swap trailers and sell the cheap boat with old trailer on it. An 18 should work on most good H16 trailers. Also might get a cat box, or second cat box out of the shuffle. I use one box for boat stuff. One for beach stuff (umbrella, chairs, etc), makes packing much easier.
