 Post subject: wing repair

The rivets on my front wing strut sheered off. I have not seen this before. I don't see any other damage......-one day later, I did the repair.no big deal. Lightly drilled then punched the old rivets through. New ones installed. I'm thinking about redoing the other side. Image

That is strange. I’ve never seen stainless rivets just shear off like that. Usually the aluminum either corrodes and the holes open up allowing the rivet to pull thru, or the aluminum weakens due to cyclical stress causing the tube to fail around the rivets.

I’m thinking perhaps it was a bad batch of rivets, so I agree, it might be worthwhile to remove and replace all of them.
