I have a 1990 Hobie 18M that has the bungee inside the boom stretched and useless, hanging out. I know it's not important, but I hate things that are not neat (anal, I know). Has anyone ever replaced this without drilling apart the boom? I can't find anything under the repairs section. Wyatt |

Hobie 18 Outhaul bunjee replacement The bunjee runs from the car to below one of the cleats. Dont think it would be real easy to do without taking a cap off the back end. |

I have replaced the bungee in the boom without removing the cap; however, it took a bit of patients and finess. I used masking tape to contain and taper the ends with gardening wire to thread things through. It took a little while but was worth it! |

You can have the cap off in less that 5 min and back on in about the same. If u do not have a rivet gun we sometimes use sheet metal screws to re install the cap. I know it would add more than 10 min to the project if you tried to do it without taking them off!
