Thanks for the link Nick. I have the assymbly manual already. I was hoping to read the Performance manual. Great link though, lots of data.
Maybe we could the Performance maunal in a pdf file. That would be way cool.

Collin,

I have found out of print Hobie books on eBay. I see Jake Grub's book on there all the time for about $10. Do a search for Hobie stuff (filter out all the baseball cards, bikini's, and other junk) and give it a week or two you will probably find it.

The Hobie 18 Performance Manual
by Phil Berman:

Unfortunately, this photo came from a UK website.

I doubt that Phil would appreciate having his copywrited work scanned and circulated for free. I'd follow Nick's advice and just keep an eye on eBay for it.

I have Phils book that I bought new when I got my used H-18. It is well worth the money and will help you get up to speed faster that just trying things out.

Now if I can just find time to really do what Phil says then I will "maybe" someday pass Matt on his H-16

I found a copy of the original Hobie 18 Performance Manual by Phil Berman on line at a used boat seller (price $35). I've seen this book sell on e-mail for over $50.

I have a question about the book. The ISBN for the is Hobie 18 Performance Manual by Phil L. Berman 0-933312-00-8. This same ISBN number is used for Winning in Catamarans by Phillip L. Berman.

What, if any, differances are there between the two books? Is it worth getting the Winning in Catamarans if I already have The Hobie 18 Performance Manual?

Totally different books. "Winning" isn't worth the money as it is very outdated. The performance manual has much specific H18 data, most of it is still considered correct.
