I am sure this has been answered before, but I have 1986' Hobie 18 and first time out this summer, dagger board went down easy but fought in the surf to get back up, any tricks out there to free up the dagger boards and help the sail up and down in the channel?

Hobie 18 boards are held down by bungee tension pulling forward. Pull back to vertical and then up. Pull to far aft and the board wedges again.

Hoisting the sail on the water will be a challenge without a motor or possibly an anchor to hold position.

Also go to your local hardware store and buy these little felt stickers. I forgot what there called but I bought a package that contained 5 sizes ranging from 1/8 inch in diameter to 1 inch. I then stuck them to the inside of the dagger board well. It makes them slide easier and makes them harder to get stuck.

The felt stickers have to be thin, like 3/32 inch otherwise they cause it to jam.
