Busy weekend: Friday afternoon/evening, did some minor repairs on my SX18, got bits and pieces organized, laced the wing tramps.
Saturday, packed up and sold the old SE 18, so sad to see her go, a sweet sailing vessel. Alec, we wish you Bon Voyage, and look forward to seeing you on the Ottawa River.
Assembled a Club H18, helped take it down to the beach. Helped the Duty Crew with some landscaping. Did not teach or do training this weekend...
Finally assembled my 18SX, and moved it down to the beach. By that time, it was after 7 pm, and we were pooped, after 9 straight hours of 'boat stuff'.
Sunday: rigged the NEW SX18 square head Pentex SAILS, awesome. Warm sunny day, low humidity, light NW winds, around 8 mph. Pierre took a Club 18, with my wife Laura as crew. I took our SX18 with son Martin as crew, and we sailed in convoy. First sail of the season as a family. Light sailing, which is good for the first time with the new sails. Finished off with burgers on the Clubhouse deck.
QUESTION - what might we do with the old SX sails? Battens and caps are fine, Mylar is shot.....dacron is blown...I'd rather turn the fabric into shopping bags that see it go to a landfill....any ideas?
