Hello all!

I am taking out my H 18 again to Lake Isabella this weekend. I mentioned before that I had the problem with the main sail raising and lowering. Everyone mentioned lubing the halyard and sail with McLube Sailkote. There are not any places near me that have it and if I ordered online it will not be here in time.

So the question is, will any silicone spray work in the meantime?

Thanks in advance!

Ryan

You can get a can of silicone spray at any auto parts store. Works fine. Just make sure you use silicone and not something oil based.

And feed the sail in from the bottom as you hoist. I have a detailed FAQ on sail hoist here:

I use paraffin wax to help hoist the sail. just rub it into the bolt rope and hoist.

I use "Sail SLide" I think it's called. Dry lube and I think it has teflon.... amazing stuff, I use in on my H-17 wing tubes as well, they slide right in...

I used to put silicone on my car interior since it was cheaper than armorall. It attracts dust and dirt pretty bad. I think wax would be a better choice. It seems that silicone might stain the sail as well.
McLube sailkote is the best product I have ever used!
