I bought a '97 H-18SX w/spinaker kit including the turtle bag. I'm new to spinaker's but experienced on H-16's. I have setup the spinaker correctly, but not sailed it yet. What are the right wind conditions for launching the spi? Do I need to take down the jib? When I jibe/tack, will the spi's sheet work to bring it around?

There are so many lines going from the mast forward: jib furl line, jib sheets, spi halyards, jib cover halyard, spi tack line...Are there any drawings that show how all the lines from the mast forward are supposed to go? Thanks.

Spinnaker...

Once all the lines are run correctly, the spinnaker can be launched from the lee side when the boat is on a low reach to dead down wind. The jib stays up. You should be able to fly the chute when dead down wind to beam reaching.

There is a spinnaker instruction on the support pages that shows the spinnaker sheet routing.

Went out in 10-15 mph winds w/o jib. Launched ok. Spinnaker sheet very difficult to control with the power. Constantly dumping wind and beating. 1st time using spin and none of the 3 of us had any experience with the spin.

Need to go out again with winds in the 5-10 range. I have lots of Hobie wounds!
