Hobie, for some reason, does't provide torque specs for any fasteners. The screws used on the anchor plates are 1/4-20. A quick search online shows that for 1/4-20 screws, you probably want about 5 to 7 ft-lbs of torque. Having said that, I've always just made them good and snug using a standard 3/8 socket driver. If you go overboard, you will shear them off. As far as laying in the glass with the hulls upright, I think that would be very difficult. You will be fighting gravity and working upside down. Easiest would be to disassemble the boat completely so you can orient the hull so that gravity helps you. Probably with the corner od the hull seam pointing down. sm |

I hate re-lacing the tramp and removing the bolts that hold the crossbars on to the hulls so I decided to leave them on. I flipped the boat over by taking it off the trailer and then my buddy and I picked up the bows and walked them into the air. It was rather easy to get the bows pointed strait up, then we walked around to the other side and lowered the bows. My buddy has real back problems and he said it was easy. Also you must tie the sterns down to ground other wise they slide around as your trying to pick them up. I think its important to have the boat upside down, and even better at an angle of 45 deg so that corner is low spot. It is VERY FRUSTRATING trying to remove the bead of glue. A hand held rasp and a grinder is what I used. I was really careful. |

It's a lot easier to flip the boat over sideways. If you do it in the grass, you don't need to pad anything. |

My neighbors are gonna love me. It won't help that I'll be violating at least 3-4 different HOA bylaws (and I'm on the board!). |

My friends had 2 16 in there back yard surrounded by a privacy fence. the mast stuck up like 2 feet over the fence when they where trailered. and the HOA filed a complaint. What is wrong with people these days........ |
