I'm in a bit of a bind. I'm supposed to go look and potentially buy a H18 some 5-6 hours away from home in Ottawa, Ontario. I have access to a H16 trailer. Will this work? Time is of the essence as I'm supposed to do this tomorrow!

It will most likely work fine. Double check the max weight capacity of the trailer. You may also want to make up some quick bunks to place between the front trailer rollers and the hulls. Some 2"x8" x 10" long boards with fore and aft stops nailed to the bottom and some carpet on top is all that's needed.
