Hello all:

Understanding that the H18M mast extrusion is 18" shorter than the H18SX mast (I have both set ups), is it advisable to install the spinnaker tang 18" higher on the comp tip than where it is installed on the SX comp tip? In other words, is the structure of the comp tip such that it won't support the pressure of the SX chute if the tang is roughly 1/2 way up?

Would like to do this so I can run the SX chute with either mast/sail plan.

Thanks in advance,

We recommend 24" above the shroud tang. Is the sail fully hoisted on your SX when the tang is in that location? If not, maybe it doesn't have to be that high on your 18 SE. I think that the CompTip is strong enough if you want to place it higher if needed.

Thanks for the reply. I've never even considered checking if the SX mast's tang fully extends the chute's luff. The tang is in the stock position, so I'm hoping so.

Thanks again,
