Post subject:  adjustable trapeze

Hey I was thinking about adding a set of adjustable trapeze to my H18 this year. Do you guys recommend them over the stock setup? If so which ones are the best?

I'm in the same boat. I would like to put some adjustable traps on my boat.

I've sailed on boats with adjustable trap setups and they are very helpful when trying to adjust your height to avoid crashing into wave crests. When we were out on the ocean the adjustable traps were a must or we would have been swimming!

An adjustable trap is a nice addition for the crew, if you are racing or sailing with many different sized crew or just have to look cool being exactly perpendicular to the boat. If you are not racing, the difference between completely perpendicular and just comfortable is negligible. If you are bouy racing, I find it to be a little too much for the skipper, especially if you have to tack on very short notice (you have to re-adjust the trap to a shorter setting before you can come in off the wire). If you are a distance racer where you spend a long time on one tack, it might be useful for the skipper.
