Does the jib halyard get tucked into the zippered pocket with the front stay or is it left outside?

The jib halyard gets tucked into the zipper or if you have sister clips, or a second line that can be detached, it can be stowed somewhere else. Tom

When I tuck the jib line into the zipper pocket seems that sometimes the jib line grabs tension from the front stay and causes the mast to flex forward some. This in turn caused my failing zipper to lose teeth and dezip underload. I didn't zip the jib line in the pocket afterwards and had no problem. Not sure what is going on..

The wire halyard and adjustment line all get tucked inside the zipper luff. The thin halyard line gets disconnected and stowed in the tramp pocket. It sounds like you are over-tensioning the jib halyard. You never want to pull the jib halyard so tight that it causes the forestay to go slack. A good way to prevent this is by hoisting the boom up about 3 feet off the back crossbar by connecting the main halyard to the aft end of the boom and tieing off the halyard to the base of the mast. Then connect your main blocks to the traveler and sheet in to you approximate upwind sheet tension. This will pre-load the forestay. Then make your final adjustment of the jib halyard. sm
