Before I re-invent the wheel, does anyone have any advice on storing my H18sx in the garage hanging from the rafters?

I am a contractor, so the framing of a couple of beams is not the concern - more along the lines of pulleys, cradles, lift systems, and all of the issues other people have had.

I would suggest you support the boat by the crossbars rather than with a line slung under the hulls. This way you are not point loading the hulls in any way. Tie the support line to each corner of the crossbar in the gap between the inboard side of the hull and the trampoline. Just be sure that for the front crossbar, the line goes above the dolphin striker rod so there's no load on the rod.

Once the boat is up and where you want it, then I would take a safety line (like an old mainsheet or trailer tie down belts) and pass it under the hulls fore and aft tied snug. This way if the primary hoist system fails for some reason, the boat does not come crashing down.

Thanks for the input. The electric winch is where I was heading, so I am glad someone has McGuyver'd up the system. I will post pictures when done.
