Here is an old Hobie 18 ad that I removed from a copy of Surfer magazine back in the early 80's. I found it today while going through a box of old drawings and papers from back then. Why do I keep this stuff? Lol. Image

Great ad! If you’d want to see them in action, check out “Sharing the Wind,” a Hobie 18 promotional video from the early 80’s. This is pretty much a still from one of the sequences in that video. Same boat, just from a slightly different angle/chase boat.

You can find it on YouTube.

My favorite Hobie Ad that I’ve seen had the tag line “Real sailors spend LESS time on the water. Fly a Hobie Cat!” I’ve shamelessly copied it for some of my own Hobie pics & vids, crediting the original ad of course. I figured Hobie wouldn’t mind the free advertising! :D

Thanks, I have seen Sharing the Wind, it's amazing to see the boats fly!!! I sail a H16 but I loved this ad and had it hanging on the wall of my bedroom when I was a teenager with a H14 then. Happy flying, uh, sailing!!! Lol.

Those 'old' and heavy H18's were amazing....and built like battleships.

Likely, the sand-sailing wore out the bottoms of the hulls and it became a parts boat.
