New to Hobies, just bought an 18' I'm guessing magnum (the wings are the same length as the crossbar spread)... when it comes to sails, tramps and wing covers does it matter that the boat is a magnum, and do I have it correct based on wing length?

all H18 have the same size hulls and main trampoline.
the SX version has a taller mast and longer wings. so the SX version would have different sails and wing tramps than a magnum or 'stock' version.

there are published specs for the H18. over the years many boats have mixed and matched components. I have a standard H18 that I added magnum wings to many years later. the only true way to know is to check the length of your mast.

others who own a SX version can give you better details.

There are two versions of wings for the 18.

Magnum Wings - the wings do not extend beyond the front and rear crossbar (fore and aft).

SX Wings - The wings extend about a foot in front of the forward crossbar and a foot and a half aft of the rear crossbar. The seat area is a large "oval" shaped section of tube that rivets to the support tubes.

Each type of wing requires a specific wing cover, the two are not interchangeable. Sounds like you have magnum wings.

Magnum is a standard Hobie 18. Sails tramps are no problem... wing tramps are no longer made for Magnum.
