I have a 1980 hobie 18 and the bottom of the hulls are fairly worn to the point where a good amount of fiberglass is showing. I was wondering what the best way to go around putting a little more meat on the bottom of these hulls.
any help would be greatly appreciated,
-travis

Just need to reglass the bottoms. If you race have them faired and re-gelled, if you don't race then fair them some and go sailing. I have sailed mine until holes developed in the keel. The 18 is a tank and the keels are solid glass so no need to worry like the clamshell boys do.

I totaly agree with ncmbm!
You can cut strips of glass and mix up some resin build it back up. We sell a kit, west systems cat keels kit the same on in the Murrays catalog page 16, but you can make the same kit by going to west marine or somewhere simlar. Let us know if we can help you out in any way!

I've removed the "bottom seem" of gelcoat witch made alot of fiber/resin show. I coated this with west systems epoxy to make it watertight and then spraypainted the whole hulls with two component polyurethane paint.
