Post subject: | Trailer Cross Bars replacement |
Hey all, My Shoreline painted steel trailer for my 18SX is rusting like crazy (used to be a lake boat, now at ocean in NJ) and rear cross bar with roller collapsed on one side at the end of last season. I have decided to replace both cross bars to be safe (front has cradles). It's a 2" painted steel bar currently and I was thinking I'd replace with a 2" galvanized bar. Anyone see any issues with that or have other recommendation? Also wondering if anyone knows the gauge of steel you need to support the boat? Thanks all! Phil |

2” square steel tube with 1/8” wall (give or take) should do the trick. Depends on what’s available. sm |

Check your frame, too. I had a Shoreline trailer and the frame broke! Not impressed with their quality. |
