I don't think you want to paint your sails. It'll crack and flake, and may damage the sailcloth. Dacron stretches when it's hit by a puff, and paint doesn't. As it starts to flake, it will spoil the flow over your sail.
The sail cloth is dyed during its production, before being cut and stitched together. I'm not sure it would even work well on an already assembled, well used/worn sail. I think your best bet is to purchase a new sail with whatever custom colors or graphics you want, and have the sailmaker print the graphic on for you. There are a number of them online, but their quality can vary drastically. Generally, you get what you pay for.
Hobie will sell you sails with custom colors for a price, depending on what colors of cloth they have available. There's another sailmaker in California that does the same, and is usually cheaper. Neither does custom graphics or multiple colors on the same panel, they stopped doing that in the 80's.
