Heavy crew can still be first on the race course and first to the BBQ.
Our combined crew weight is 160kgs (353 lbs) so fat is still fast.

Does your sail have a reef point added? That’s the kinda system I’d run in that case and just ditch the hook in place of a low stretch halyard.

John - Daggers and rudders will be shaped as soon as it's warm enough to cure resin in my garage. I'm a model airplane builder too, so airfoil profiles are familiar territory to me. I'm pretty sure I have the first gen EPO rudders, so easy enough to work with.

TAMU - No easy way to reef these sails that I can see. I think figuring out the hook won't be too bad. I really want that space on the mast for a better downhaul system.

The easy way to reef is to run no hook and just tie a knot in the halyard or have a cleat as pictured. Youd want a low stretch halyard and I'd be curious if you can actually break the mast head/base casting with the downhaul load going through them from the downhaul. Realistically you probably dont have to downhaul as hard with a reef in anyway because the reduced sail will be depowering the sail nice anyway but still.

I'm gonna be putting a reef in my sail at some point this year anyway so I've been thinking it through.
