What are you using for carriers on your trailers? I just bought a Malone extra light for my compass and need some ideas for straps also. The Malone uses cross rails and I'd like to not use PCV pipe.

Thanks
Dave

Simple - flip the kayak upside down flat on the crossbars - that is the best and recommended way to carry any kayak.

What about straps, would it be better to use S hook ends to wrap around the load bars?
Thanks

I load my Compass upwards and attach 2 additional straps through the scubber holes to avoid slipping.
Easier to push on top that way in my eyes And with added straps I doubt it moves.

These came with super solid straps.

Loading a kayak right side up can cause issues with distorting the hull bottom - or worse case, pressure point loading on scuppers causing damage. The deck is a much stronger flat section of the hull to rest on - that's why we always recommend upside down.

Thank you.... so far was only able to take the Compass out twice... (need better weather soon)

Next time I will load it upside down.... may actually be easier that way.
