How far apart should the cradles be for the best fit on the Compass?

67" On center is the standard dimension.

Before you install the cradles, note that there are a front and back orientation to each cradle. Your
Hobie Compass is widest in the middle and tapers at both the bow and stern. The forward
cradle is narrower at the front. The aft cradle is narrower at the back and the channel for the
keel is slightly larger at the back.

We don’t include mounting hardware since each trailer, rack system or storage arrangement
differ and require different sized hardware.

Wait to install the EVA pads until after you have your cradles mounted and hardware secured. Clean and dry
each recess where the EVA pads will be installed. Feel free to trim the pads to your liking before you peel off
the paper backing and adhere them. One 5.25” x 8.75” pad will need to be cut in half and have the corners
rounded off to fit each recess on either side of the keel channel. The rounded corner of another pad serves
as a great template for adding a radius to the corners of the two half pads you’ve created.

Is there some part I should get if I wanted to install the cradles to round 1.5" PVC pipe?

Also is 1.5" SCH40 PVC big enough for the cradles or is bigger recommended?

Nothing I am aware of. Why mounting to PVC?

I have a PVC kayak stand in the garage and I was just gonna put the cradles on it so I don't have to flip the kayak for storage. I'll probably put them on a trailer later.

I've seen these but I was wondering if there was something better:

For garage storage, simple bolting to the PVC would be fine.

So that I might locate the cradles on a new trailer, what is the distance from the bow to center of the forward cradle?

Hi Mark

Is this the correct placement form my 2019 Compass Cradles 67" on center does not fit correctly. 53.5" seems to fit just right center to center. Will this be OK ? thanks

I have a picture but cannot attach

Best placement would be found by dividing the length / 3. That would place the cradles even closer together on a Compass, so 53.5 would work if the cradles fit better there.
