Can anyone recommend an inexpensive pair of water shoes that work well with Compass pedals? I have a pair of cheap Bass Pro hard plastic ... they slip off the pedals ... hoping to find something that is "stickier" ...

Look on Amazon. I picked up a couple of pairs that work great. Can't post the link here, but if you message me, I will send you the link for mine.

Search for "Floafers" on Amazon.

I personally use Columbia's Bahama Vent PFG Shoe, the standard one without the shoe laces. It is a boat/deck shoe, however they are called. They also have the same shoe variant with laces, for personal preference. You may or may not want to avoid the knit version of the shoe for kayaking, as the top section of the shoe is a cotton like material instead of the canvas and I'm not sure how well that does with water. The Bahama Vent series is the most comfortable boat/deck shoes that I have tried, especially in water. The grip is phenomenal, which is why these can be a daily pair at times.

It seems everyone's favorite shoe for kayaking is Sea to Summit's Ultra Flex Booties. I've messed with these a bit and they are great. The grip on these are good as well.
