I just picked up my new Compass after waiting months. About 1/2 hr into my 1st trip, the seat back padeye broke.
My dealer gave me a new padeye, which I installed without issue.
2nd trip today and the padeye broke within minutes.
Is there some attachment method or adjustment I need to be on the lookout for?
Can I get padeyes made of metal or something other than the cheap plastic? (They break at the padeye loop).
I see old threads of similar issues, would have hoped they were corrected in newer models.
NOT a happy new Hobie owner
Any suggestions welcome. Hope not to have to return kayak

Mine also broke 1st time out. I contacted my dealer and they gave me 4 replacement eye pads.
The best modification is the SS Eye Bolt. It's pretty easy ... get a 2 inch eye bolt at your local hardware store. Get some washers that fit INSIDE the pad eye threaded section that the eye bolt can pass threw. Cut off the plastic loop on the pad eye (use your broken eye pad) and drill a hole the diameter of the eye bolt threw the top of the eye pad under where the plastic loop was. Bolt the eye bolt and washers in place, then fill the inside with epoxy ... let dry. You now have a solid eye pad that the seat can attach to.
