I'm planning on buying a new tramp here very shortly, has anyone tried aftermarket ones? I have even just found one on ebay that has no center seam,.. the lace is all down one side and the back. at first i thought how uncomfortable, but it says "like the H18" is that how the 18 is? I've read the sales pitch for everyone's but still am on the fence. Judging by my super old boat and it having the original tramp I must speculate the original one has the best quality. looking for input and experiences with anything.

If you're looking for a Hobie 18 trampoline, I have a brand new one for sale for $225 paypaled and shipped. I bought it with the intention of fixing up my old Hobie 18 but the hulls are just in too bad of shape to restore. The tramp is from raceday tramps.... Black mesh with lacing. traditional design. paid around $300 with shipping and lacing. its 100% brand new.

BTW you posted this in the Hobie 16 forum.

No but thanks, I'm an H16 guy (so far) I just saw the mention in the description that referred to the 18.
I'll see if I can post a link so everyone can take a look.

I have a tramp from SLO sail and canvas on mine right now. Really nice tramp for aftermarket, and the price was good, too. It's one of the bias-cut one piece ones, and the only knock I could make is that I can't quite get things as tight as one with center lacing. Hobie factory is still the best, though. At the time I got this I was marginally employed and wanted to get on the water quick!

I've had SLO tramps too. Liked them a ton for casual sailing ( girls on board like the one piece comfort ) but yes, OEM tramps you can get drum tight and your boat will go faster. I need a Hobie 20 and a Hobie 16 trampoline.... wonder if there's a discount for multi Hobie ?

;)

Buy a factory one, then you don't have to replace it... likely ever again.

I'm not sure I actually have to replace mine now, really it just barely is getting out of shape at some of the eyelets, mostly I just want it to be nice and bright yellow to go with the hulls that I will make all bright and shiny this spring, in between snow and warmer water 8) Can you get two pockets on OEM? otherwise what are some good cargo bags?

I use an old yellow '78 tramp on my '81 Hobie 16....they do hold up.

I would like a new yellow OME though.............who has one? :)

You're right, Matt! The Hobie tramps definitely hold up! My 14's on her second (almost ready for #3) factory tramp-both yellow vinyl. 16's on her third- sand vinyl, Hobie mesh, SLO mesh. Both the Hobie tramps did 10+ years, SLO's got about 4 on it I believe. But then, both my boats are over 30 years old and still going strong! Think I'll go mesh Hobie on the 14 this time- if I can cajole the $ from wifey! :D

I still have the original on my '79 H16. It got a hole in it when a branch from a tree blew thru it in a storm, so I bought a new one for Christmas that year from SLO. It was cheap, and at 35 years old, I didn't think my boat needed another high quality tramp.

Ironically, that was 2 years ago, and I still haven't installed the new one! Even with a 4" hole in it, up near one of the corners, the original hasn't gotten any worse. I thought it would continue to rip where the hole is, but it hasn't. Maybe I should sell the SLO tramp and just install a cup holder where the hole is.

I will be lucky to get another season out of my mesh OEM Tramp. Installed it new in 2013-14. Keep covered or removed (During Winter). Notices where the tramp is folded over the bolt rope area, the material is starting to break down there. Going to suck having to replace it.
