I can weigh in on this one having soloed most of my 20 years sailing a H16. For Mast stepping (on older boats without roller furler) I took an old shroud and cut it @ 6' and swaged a loop on the cut end. For stepping I connect one end of it to the top of the Jib uphaul and the other end to the forstay U plate in the third or forth hole down. I'd raise the mast as normal and tie off the jib uphaul to the jib cleat, then go to the front of the boat and secure the forstay. For righting the boat I used a righting bag with a 4:1 block set-up. I strapped it to the bottom of the tramp so it is just where you need it when you need it. Beware that turtling can be difficult to recover from when soloing. Where I sail it can become gusty and you can not rely on the wind to be consistant enough to aid in righting the boat. One of the things you will enjoy about soloing (along with all the obvious benefits) is that the boat rides higher so you can push it harder with reduced chance of pitchpole.
