The sheave on my masthead has disintegrated. I am pretty sure that given the dimensions of the sheave and a source I could replace it OK. I do not want to go the comptip route. Anyone had experience of this or suggestions. Hobie should be able to give me the specs for the old sheave? Thanks. Rod |

You just need to replace the sheave, eh? You'd probably be best off finding someone with a bent mast they're trying to get rid of. Else you might just have one fabricated? |

It's just aluminu, I don't see why there'd be a problem with heating it. |

Mast Head Sheave The original sheave is nylon or something. Likely it is encrusted with dirt and or corrosion wedging it in there. After removing the axel / pin you should be able to pound it out with something. We have not had this sheave for many, many years. I don't have the plans available to me to give you the original specs. You can use a CompTip mast head and CompTip Halyard. |

So the CT mast head fits in the aluminum mast? That's good information; thanks, Matt! Jim |

With normal handskills, a router, and a pice of 1/4 delrin (or some other plastic) you probabely could fabricate one. They are pretty simple. I could try to messure dimensions on mine. Be careful with used stuff... They all seem to be on their last leg. Patrick |

Ok, I was given one from a Hobie 14. The diamaeter is less but the other dimensions are OK. Fitted it today and it works fine. I am corresponding with someone in the UK ,who can get the full size one. I will let you all know how it goes . Thanks. Rod |
