Hi all.

My sons purchased a Hobie 16 at the sailing club that we belong too. Yesterday, we tried to go for a ride and found that we couldn't fully hoist the sail because the comptip wasn't in exact alignment with the aluminum part of the mast. Is this a common problem?

There appeared to be a lot of play in the comptip, is that how is is designed, or should it be significantly tight?

All the other Hobies are strictly aluminum masts, so no one at the club
had a clue.

The CompTip should be tight / glued into the aluminum. Alignment of the tracks can be taken care of with some slight flairing of the meeting ends.
