Are you actually surfing behind it? That is awesome!!

Well my friend was, I was skippering. Wanted to try out his new surfboard, and asked if I could tow him. We were even able to jibe with him up.

The orange Hobie and the blue Super Pourpose are mine. The other hobie is a friend of mine that has a Centenial edition 1976.

Hey, that one looks just like mine!

I noticed that you have windows in the main and jib, but I only have the window in the jib. I wonder why?

Also, does anyone know if there are any differences between the 'Orange Crusher' theme and the '79 Nationals Orange boats? Did they both have the orange tramps?

They look very much alike. It is the original sail in very good shape. They are both 1979. My numbers are a little higher, I wonder if it changed mid year a little?

It is so cool to see these boats, old and new. Those stripes on the Orange crush remind me of my high school days working in a hobie shop. We sold all the stripes for all the color combos by the roll, they were stored in the same area as all the line and shackles. Memories!

Best job I ever had.

triton... are you sure you don't have a soft spot in the front of your starboard hull? looks wavy and you can see the clear line where the solid keel starts. Mine looked the same way. Just hoping to help catch a problem before its catostophic.

doesn't feel soft but it has a definite wave to it...what can be done?

Sail the crap out of it!

Seriously, I've seen quite a few very solid hulls that had a noticable indentation above the solid bottom area on the outboard side. I don't know if they came from the factory that way, but they've held up for a long time. I doubt this was the cause of reelknotty's going soft. Keep an eye on them, of course, but I wouldn't worry too much if they're hard. How are the decks? They are much more likely to go first.

So, can you confirm that these were the original stripes on the Orange Crush? the reason I ask is that I thought i had an Orange Crush, but the stripes are different (only orange) and the sails are different (no window on the main sail). I noticed that there is another boat on the 'sail color history' page for a '79 Nationals - Orange that looks pretty similar. Maybe this is what I have? or maybe there just wasn't much effort into making them all consistent nationally.
