Hi,
Finally picking up my 1980 H16 and am going to attempt to step the mast with my 65 year old dad. Neither of us have ever stepped a mast before, but I've watched Matt Miller's early '90's video at least 5-10 times in detail, along with as many youtube videos as I can find. I also printed out the Hobie 16 manual to follow.
Now why I wrote in was to see if anyone / everyone who has special secrets, or tricks, or time-saving suggestions that I should follow when I step it on Saturday afternoon. This is meant to not only save me time and frustration but also to keep me from killing my dad in the process, or vice versa!
Absolutely love the forum and have learned so much. I do have a guy from the local sailing club coming over in the afternoon to teach me how to rig up the H16 but at least wanted the mast to be stepped before he got there.
Thanks in advance!
