I'm replacing my luff track, and the PDF instructions advise to cut the part to fit. It comes about 1'' too long, so it does need to be cut. The existing track on my mast always seemed about 1/8'' too short, leaving a gap between where the luff track meets the aluminum mast at the base of the comptip.

So the question is, can I cut the new part to eliminate that gap, or is that part of some engineering tolerance for flex, or ...?

If you have a comptip, does your luff track leave a gap of about 1/8'' from the base of the comptip?

Thanks for any help!

Mine has a slight gap. I would assume in the sunlight the track would expand and contract some. And the tip is more flexible than the rest of the mast so the may be some need for just a smidge of room because of that.

But my advice is worth what you paid for it.

I just removed and replaced my comptip and it also has a small gap, I would assume it make absolutely no difference to the function.
