Post subject:  Hull identification/manufacture help.
I've recently purchased a hobie 16 at an auction. I need help with determining the date of manufacture. The Hull Numbers don't seem to match the nomenclature i've found here:

The hull number is as follows: CCMQ1483M81J

breaking it down -

CCM - built here
Q - whatever that means regarding a hobie 16
1483 - serial#
M - built in the 13th month of the year?

81 1981 perhaps?

J - 10th?

Thanks - just trying to mainly get a year for registration...

The "M" in the older serial numbers was a placeholder. It doesn't change from boat to boat - they all have an "M" in that position.
