Lots of ways to skin that cat. A towel will work but is less than ideal. Hobie makes a carrier that is contoured to fit the rear beam and secures the mast with multiple wraps of bungee. I use that one on my 14 and it is simple and effective. I’ve also built carriers out of wood and fiberglass. There was a post a while back from someone that used a V-chock from a trailer mounted to a piece of wood if I recall. I thought that one looked pretty good. A stand on a metal post attached to the back of the trailer will also work but needs to be removable or hinged so the boat can come on and off. The most important things are that it is secure and that it protects the mast and beam from rubbing against one another.

I use the Hobie mast cradle, part 7135; $70. Works well and is durable.
