Trailer?

I have a chance to get my hands on a *pretty good* condition Hobie with *great* condition sails for VERY cheap. The catch, however is the seller has no trailer. My small amount of research shows the Hobie 16 has a specially designed trailer and I can't just go out and

So I guess my question is: Where can I get a cheap hobie 16 trailer, or what can I do to make one.. for less than $200 total?

But it doesn't look like it would last even 10 miles... and its $200.

Condition of that trailer may not be TOO bad, it just depends on if that's mostly surface rust, or if it's started to eat away at serious amount of metal.

The mast stand appears to be on the wrong end of the trailer, which is interesting, so I'm not sure how you would launch and retrieve the boat, but if it's a bolt on maybe the guy just doesn't know what he's doing.

You would probably want to replace the wheels/tires, but if it has bearing buddies then hopefully the bearings are good.

Honesty that's probably not that bad of an option if you can sort out the mast stand, and don't mind a little physical work to get it cleaned up and repainted.

For 200$ if the bunks are wide enough that trailer looks fine. Plan on new tires/lights/bearings.

You think sailsandpoint would sell me a trailer if they had it? Thanks for the info. I have been told in the past that if a trailer has that much rust (bearings are shot/etc) it's not even worth buying.

I am sure they would be happy to sell you a trailer if they have one available.
That just looks like some surface rust to me.
Front and rear mast stands are a nice feature.
Price out a new trailer and you will find it will be a LOT more than $200! Which makes tightening up an oldie well worth it.

The rusty trailer is actually made for a Hobie 14. Will a Hobie 16 fit in it? I'm not able to test it because I need to buy the trailer before I can buy the boat.
