ya'll are going to have to bring it this year... Today was flat water... as it was mostly just big gusts rolling down the lake..

I still managed plently of nice and steady 22+mph... With more than one little burst to... Well... the definition of a screaming reach!!

I just didn't have enough to hold it down and chickened out on going deeper...

Hey ronholm, what is that device? That is cool telemetry. Do you need to use their software to get the speed and direction on screen? I have an old Oregon Scientific ATC-something with GPS and accelerometers, but they never really invested in their software and it's hard to use. I'm also kind of tired of the fisheye effect of the wide angle lens.

General comment - some of us use a free app (iPhone and Android) called Runtastic to take tracks and taunt each other with speeds and distance. Here is one from a couple weeks ago with about 400 lbs on the boat, waves 2-3 feet and wind speeds about 15.

It is a Garmin Virb Elite.

The GPS tracking is built right in to the software. 'Dashboard' overlays and correcting any timing issues are done within the Garmin software. The video editing is nothing more than trimming/clipping, but works well for that.

Just got one for my birthday! I'm excited to try it out this weekend!

post yer stuff!

I have to say my friend with the iPhone seems to overstate speeds with his GPS (when we're on the same boat), but I suspect that's true for all Apple fanboys.

Here's 16 miles worth of data I did solo (first time) on at Panama City Beach. BTW, this wouldn't have been possible without forum member Tim Beachum showing me the ropes of solo and letting me sail along side, so many thanks to Tim. GPS data from Garmin Forerunner 10, plots made with GPSvisualizer.com

That's funny ronholm... I will basically trailer it along if I'm already going somewhere and there's a good place to sail. Just did a trip over to Arkabutla Lake, MS last weekend. In the past year, I've sailed in AL, MO, KS, IL, FL, and MS (plus a rental in Ontario). I have this fantasy/goal to drive the lower 48 and sail in each state on one massive road trip, but that will be another thread.
