Post subject:  Upper Jib Batten Grommet??

The Jib Halyard cable snagged my upper Jib Batten grommet and broke the grommet (the 2 halves are now separated. Being as I live 7 hours round trip to the nearest Sail Loft, is it going to have much affect if I pull that top smallest batten out and sail w/o it the rest of the season?
I have a couple other things that I need to get sorted out on my sails this winter...but don't really want to miss out on any sailing the end of this season.
Any other ideas on a temp fix? I love living in the boonies...but I would love it more if I could just drop this off to get fixed quick n easy!!!

I may just invest in a sewing kit and a spur grommet tool but Im sailing tomorrow!

Sailing without the top batten will cause the leech to flutter (= wear quickly).

Grommets are easy to replace, and can usually be found at a craft store (Michaels - in the sewing section).
