I just recently got another H16 after a 12 year hiatus... I have also moved so haven't launched one around here yet. Anyway, it came with Cat Trax.

I have a few questions: :(

1.) Can one person balance the boat on Cat Trax and move it up and down the beach? What about with a 10 yr old helping?

1a.) Depending on the tides I could have 50ft of incline to get the boat back up to the trailer....do you think I can do it with the Cat Trax?

2.) I used to step the mast on the trailer. I used to tie a line from the mainstay under the shackle / bridle and use it to hold the master until I could put in the pin. Several posts here suggest taking it off the trailer, pointing the boat towards the water and stepping the mast...Is the boat stable (doesn't rock) when it's on the beach?

3.) Lastly, does anyone have directions on using Cat Trax? Where are they placed under the boat? Are they just tied to the tramp supports?

Thanks!

1. Shouldn't be a problem with a 16.

1a. You might have to do some traverses. Get the 10 year old some boots with Vibram soles so he has good traction.

2. I always stepped the mast on my 16 with the boat on the beach. Never had a problem.

3. Put the cradles under the hulls at the stays. Tie the Trax to the stays so it doesn't shift around while moving the boat.

Have fun!!

I have never turned my H16 around on the trailer. You can solo step the mast just fine facing foward or on the beach.
