I'm not familiar with all the terms for specific parts but do you mean part 60400011 (upper right page 2 of http://static.hobiecat.com/digital_asse ... _Parts.pdf )?

Maybe try heating it?

I had that problem on my 18. I had to cut the tiller cross arm open to get em apart. Luckily I had a spare tiller cross arm.

My advice is to soak it overnight in WD40 or something then bang harder and harder till it comes apart. Maybe a little heat will help.

wd40 is about worthless as a penetrating oil. Use Kroil or Liquid Wrench and some heat cycles.

Heat is the key here. Heat the tube, not the adjuster. You don't have to get it very hot - you don't want to destroy the temper on the aluminum.

Make sure to remove the adjusting screw completely and use a strap wrench or a padded faucet wrench to twist the tube / adjuster in opposite directions to break them free.

I ended up hack sawing mine off and then driving the remaining stubs several inches into the crossbar with a socket extension and hammer. Then I just bought new ones and started over. Of course you have to remove the set screws first. I used an impact driver. I also used anti-seize on the new adjusters and the locking screws. I replaced the screws with hex head bolts. The slotted screw heads just strip out too easy. If your boat has been around salt water most of its life this is about the only solution.
