I'm picking up a 16 this weekend for $900, I know it does not have trapeze wires or harnesses. Is it safe to assume I can pick up trapeze wire kits for it so we can double trap? I'm assuming every hobie 16 has the tang where one can hook in trap wires etc...?

Thanks

I'm fairly certain they all have the tang. Where are you located?

Yes, there are separate holes on the mast tang specifically for connecting the trap wires. All H16s can be rigged with trap wires.

I recommend you download a copy of the Hobie 16 assembly manual from this site. It should answer many questions you may have.

I bet when you pick up the boat you will find the trap wires balled up under a life jacket or something.

Otherwise yes, all hobie 16 are set up for trap wires.

Older boats had a single hole in the tang... still OK to set up as double trap. The new tang makes it easier (3 holes).

Located on Lake Crescent in NORTHWEST Washington. Hoping to meet with the hobie crew in Seattle once it warms up a bit.

I already got that manual! U betcha! ...that's how I knew tang wasn't referring to a citrus drink :)
