Well, since this is my first post, I'll introduce myself.
I'm Tim from Wisconsin. I mostly sail on Lake Petenwell in Rome,WI.
I just recently bought my first cat (well, "cats" actually. I have also got an Alcort Catfish from the 60's)

I've been sailing my Catalina 22 for a few years now and feel confident sailing the Hobie will be the greatest thing ever. I've spent many hours reading all of the awesome info found in this forum. Now if winter would just go away I could try this thing out.

I look forward to my stay here.

Welcome the the madness! I am with you on wanting it to warm up!
Had to google Alcort Catfish. That is a crazy looking little cat! Made by the same company that makes Sunfish.

I think you will like your new 16 better! 8)

Welcome to the forum, I think you'll find your Hobie a bit more exciting than the Catfish.

Do you know if that kit includes Hobie branding or just stripes?

I am going to say just the strips. The same guy has strips for my boat and it is just striping only, no front section, or logo.

Is it possible now to post pictures off of your computer with the new Forums software, or do you still have to post a link to a picture on a website?

Nice looking boat and yes, I was staring at your Jeep too. It looks identical to my first one, right down to the pin striping. I doubt my 87 still looks that good though, where ever it is. I see it's lifted a bit and there is a CB antenna so I assume you off road it a bit too. Nice to be using boat the boat and Jeep as they were intended.

Someone on the lake, I sail at, was sailing a catfish just like that a couple years ago.

That 1981 H-16 you got looks really good, even has what looks like original tramp. If you store it outside in the winter next year, take it off along with all your ropes, rigging and wires, store it all inside, that stuff will all last a long time yet, if you do that.
I see hobie cats all the time that are stored outside, everything left on them, tramps looking real bad from snow and ice being left on them, ropes all dirty, even with an A framed tarp, draped over the mast. (pointless if in snow country)
You can leave the boat with the rudders, and mast on out, but be prepared to wash it, if its stored around or under trees.

Thanks, ya its a '95. Rust is starting to have her way with it. But I love it. I used to do a lot of off-roading, but seeing as its my daily driver, I've settled down a little. Sick of breaking stuff. But it is quite the capable vehicle.

Thanks for the kind words, its good to know other people think I did alright with boat selection. I was lucky enough that the previous owners stored it indoors for me through the winter. I hope to build a car port or something before next winter rolls around. If not, thanks for the advice, ill keep that in mind! Happy sailing!
