Hello

I just got my first Hobie, it is Hobie 16 with two section mast.
It seems that there is slack between the two pieces.
Is this normal or should I look into fix it?

Thanks,

If wobbly... that is a problem. May be a very old version of the CompTip Mast? Upper is black? Or did it come from Europe maybe? All alumuinum with a sleeve connection? In any case. Epoxy can be used to bond the halves together and stiffen the connection.

Hello

The hull numbers are CCMQ4671M82D.
Yes the upper is black.
Would you suggest a specific epoxy or just any kind?

Thanks,

The original CompTip was installed with a thru bolt (sister screw). We went very quickly to one, as done in production, that is held in by the shroud tang / hound rivets... and epoxy. In either case the tip can be bonded in with automotive Bondo epoxy. It makes a very stiff connection and is easy to work with / find.

Installation instructions: http://static.hobiecat.com/digital_assets/13070100CTIP.pdf These cut lengths are for the current system. Yours may be installed above the tang by 12" approx?

Hello

Do I have to drill out the hound rivets in order to disassebly the mast?
I am not that familliar with hound rivets, do I need a special tool to install them?
I also found that the aluminium rivets for mast base should be replaced, is there a procedure to replace these rivets (any sealeant that need to be used?)

Is there a possibility to attach the pictures to the posts?

Thanks,
