Just wanted to check in and say hello. Just bought my first Hobie. It's a Hobie 16 and I picked it up for next to nothing. Referencing your forums it appears to be. 1972 hull #395. It's in pretty good shape for its age. Fixed a soft spot on the starboard bow and plan to sand and paint tomorrow weather permitting. Can't wait to get it in the water.

Good on you and welcome! Are you sailing Port Royal Sound?

This could be the title of a hundred threads on here, as there are many of us! I got mine for very little because I decided one day I wanted to learn to sail. I love every minute I get to use it, and am very impressed with what you can do with a cheap 30+ year old boat. The good folks here at Hobie do a tremendous job of providing the information and parts needed to keep sailing these old boats for many years to come, and it is very likely that someday I will own a much newer Hobie as well.

Welcome aboard, and remember, we love pictures!!

Used to sail my daysailer in Port Royal sound and St Helena sound. Lots of good trips here to visit sand bars and uninhabited sea islands.
Rain and high humidity really playing havoc on my painting effort. The Hobie is currently some kind of burnt orange color. Due to our university loyalty we are prohibited from owning anything orange. Painting it white. I've been able to only finish one hull and repair the other. Also restored a rudder and cleaned and patched the sails. Need to replace the main sheet halyard. Pics soon. Hope to be on the water weekend of 4th.
