Weatherman predicted NW 5-10 wind for Sunday, not my favorite. Get the boat set up in light air conditions and I was thinking it will be an easy sail day. About the time I'm ready to launch the wind picks up from the southwest 10-15, my favorite direction and speed. I was able to make a 5 mile run towards Pine Knoll Shores in 15 minutes, make a roll tack and roar back even faster. It was beautiful, conditions were near perfect. Any time I wanted to fly a hull all I had to do was sheet in and up she came, dancin along. I had a couple precarious balance moments where the rudder is mushy and I'm standing at about a 60 degree angle hoping she doesn't go over. Fortunately every time she came back right side as I scooted along. All in all It was a beautiful day on the water

Nice looking H16. Are those the 'Generator' series sails? They look fantastic!

Yes they are the Generator sails. Its my second set. I bought the boat new in 1987. It was a raffle boat in Myrtle Beach from the Bud distributor and originally had white sails with "Natural Light" on them. I abused them keeping the boat on the beach in North Myrtle and would sail in almost any condition. I had two friends who would not go unless it was blowing 20+. I perfected the pitchpole and surfing 5 footers through the breakers. That boat is better than a Timex watch, takes a licking and keeps on ticking. One of these days I'm going to get a Go Pro, I'd love to record and post some videos.

Great pictures. I stay inland in NC but would love to trailer my 16 down to the coast sometime and launch off the beach. Can you tell me where is a good place to do that? I don't want to go to a typical public concrete boat launch, I'm hoping for a public parking lot with catamaran friendly beach access where we could wheel the boat down to the water.

There is a public access hand launch facility at 11th street in Morehead City. Unfortunately the town commissioners banned overnight parking this year. I left my boat there last year and it was real convenient not having to step the mast. I could set up and be sailing in less than 30 minutes.

Try Hatteras Island! lots of great ocean beaches to launch! Good soundside launches, too, many accessible without getting the ORV permit now required for driving on the beach :x . The former Canadian Hole now called "haulover day use area" between Buxton and Avon's good albeit a bit shallow. Salvo day use area works, too!
